My Girl

Well, today I learned that my girlfriend was not able to eat lunch at work!  She usually works on average 15 hours a day 6 days a week.  But how sad is it that she was not given a lunch break, or any break for that matter?  So she e-mailed me after she finished work and told me this news.  She only has about one or two hours to herself a day.  So when she arrived at home she had time to cook lunch for tomorrow, eat lunch/dinner, take a bath and that's it.  This really puts things into prospective for me.
I really have nothing to complain about, not that I am looking to find something to complain about.  When I hear about her day and when I saw what it was like when I was over there, I was really surprised and humbled in a way.  She never complained once about her long day at work and when she arrived at the apartment, she would run to me and jump into my arms.  In America I feel that we lack this enthusiasm for work and for our loved ones.  I am not saying everybody does, but usually after working 15 hours, people just go crash on the couch and veg out in front of the TV.
I guess what I am trying to say is that I look at my girl Yuumi as a role-model and a great example of how ambitious I would like to be with work and school.  I look to Christ for all things in my life, but seeing Yuumi and how she smiles going to work and smiles coming back... I must strive to live that way as well.  Ambition is a great characteristic to have.  I praise God everyday for the relationship He has given to me with Yuumi and the example she is to me.  Let's not forget our relationship with Him too.

Optimistic

Well, I woke up this morning with the sun shining brightly in my eyes.  It was almost as God was waking me up himself and telling me to get a move on.  I am very optimistic about today because I feel that the Lord is working greatly in my life.  Today I will go to the university to start the process for my enrollment.  I am so excited to get started and to be finished!
Things must be done one day at a a time, but I feel that having goals set to accomplish are a key.  I hope and pray that things will continue to go as smoothly as they have been so far.  God provides and He cares.  With that in mind I am off to start my day!

Anniversary

Well, today has been a GREAT day!  First of all, it is the one month anniversary of the engagement of Yuumi and I.  Also, I received great news from Northern Michigan University about summer classes for my degree.  I was able to skip a prerequisite for professional cooking and move on to the next class.  This means that I will be able to obtain my degree in a year-and-a-half instead of two years!!!  This also means that I will be able to return to Japan at the time that Yuumi and I had planned!  GOD IS GREAT!!   I thank and praise God for everything he has been doing in my life.  He has brought Yuumi into my life, who is right now excited about Christianity, and also He has provided opportunity for me educationally and spiritually.
So, today was a very exciting and fulfilling day.  This exciting news and anniversary have really put a smile on my face.  GOD CARES!!!

Return From Osaka

Well, I have been home from Osaka, Japan for almost a week now.  I had the most wonderful time there!  I was able to spend a lot of quality time with my girlfriend, as well as travel to many beautiful places in the area.  I was staying in Minoo city with Yuumi and on her days off, we would take the train and subway to Umeda and Shinsaibashi.  Umeda and Shinsaibashi are the large commercial districts in Osaka.  I really miss not only my girlfriend, but the lifestyle and culture of Japan as well as the food.

Most people think that Japan is extremely expensive, but really it is just like any other place.  Live within your means.  I found a lot good noodle shops and takoyaki stands which offer great food for good prices.  And if you fancy a burger, Wendy's, McDonalds, Lotteria or a Bikkuri Donkey are well within walking/train distance.
I will write more about my travels and experiences to and in Osaka.  I can't wait to return and look for work!  I hope that you enjoy the blogs and pictures which are to follow.  If you have ever had any interest in traveling to Japan...GO!
